Guest Cellar Doors @ Kinloch

Kinloch Wines will open their cellar door to six wine labels in the region, inviting them to showcase their varietal wines in a magnificent garden setting. This will happen on Saturday 30 November from 11.00 am to 4.30pm. As these six wineries do not have permanent cellar doors, this is a perfect opportunity for you, the wine lover to come along and sample aromatic white and elegant red wines from Barwite, Mansfield Park, Mt Terrible, Ros Ritchie and St Winifred’s. Of course, Kinloch Wines will also be thrown in among the mix. What’s more you can talk to the “faces behind the labels” – Meet Bryan & Judy, Trish & Jim, John & Janene, Ros & John, Cait & Peter and Susan and Malcolm. All passionate about their journey in wine and have stories to tell about their achievements. You are invited to come along and sample these exciting wines, purchase a glass or a bottle, wash it down with a gourmet platter while you relax and soak up the views, and then place your orders for future consumption. Entertainment will also be provided by local talent. Special Christmas packs will also be available so don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity. For further information call Susan Kinloch on 5777 3447. (Kinloch Wines, 221 Wairere Rd, Boorolite).

Kinloch Wines Cellar Door News

Looking towards retirement!

Susan and Malcolm, owner-operators of Kinloch Wines have now stopped the production of wine and are currently working towards culling the vineyard to a manageable size purely for the sale of fruit to some of our regional winemakers for their own labels. The cellar door however, is still operational on the weekends as a tasting and sales outlet for our existing stock of wine.  We are now completely out of stock of our white varieties (Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and our 2009 vintage of Don Kinloch Sparkling) and are left with the following wines to sell:

2009 Merlot – a quaffing wine to be enjoyed with a BBQ as the wine matches well with meats on a grill

2010 Pinot Noir – this wine has had a rating of 92 by James Halliday and is drinking well now, and will complement foods such as duck, pork, veal and pasta

2006 “Mary Friend” Bordeaux Red Blend – a lovely blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot – fermented for 22 months in Russian oak – James Halliday rates it 91 – this wine is drinking well now, and will also benefit with cellaring for a further 5 years.

While continuing with cellar door sales, we wish to advise that the food service operations only will cease after the Queen’s Birthday weekend, the last day for food will be Sunday 9th June.

Also of note is that we will be releasing our new vintage 2010 Don Kinloch Sparkling later this year (around August) and we are told that this vintage is “excellent” so for those lovers of our sparkling this is exciting news – we shall be in touch.

If you would love to purchase some of the above wines, please call into the cellar door during the weekends or call us on 5777 3447 with your order.

Thank you for your support over the years.

UPPER GOULBURN WINES & FOOD ON SHOW APRIL 27th

The Upper Goulburn Wine Region in Victoria’s High Country will again showcase high quality, distinctively flavoured, cool climate wines at the annual “Vintage Celebrations – A Day on High” to be held in Mansfield on Saturday 27th April.

Come along and celebrate with your local Winegrowers and small artisan food producers; purchase a tasting glass and sample wines on offer from boutique producers from your local region, which encompasses towns in Mansfield, Murrindindi and Mitchell shires.

Comments and reviews from the leading wine writers and an evolving wine show awards tally indicate that your local wine region – the Upper Goulburn is fast emerging as an impressive source of quality wines.

"The Fem Belling trio will also combine with The Harvey Club and The Lex Pistols at the Vintage Celebrations. Fem Belling is a celebrated Jazz singer who's accolades are too numerous to mention. She has starred in the Boy from Oz, playing Liza Minnelli, and played leading roles in many other Broadway productions including Cats, Hairspray and many more. Her trio is a family affair and features her father, Howard Belling on keys and her brother Zvi on bass, both celebrated musicians in their own right. The Harvey Club features Mansfield's own celebrated musician, Liam Bradley on vibes, his son Fintan on Trumpet and Rolf Koren on drums. The Lex Pistols - named after its drummer, Justice Lex Lasry of the Supreme Court, is a six-member troupe of travelling wigs. Like so many school-days musicians, the group has grown from the garage, tweaked its line-up over 15 years and become a classic dinner-dance, charity ensemble.
